The administration of the free economic zone "Vitebsk" initiated the creation of the Council of the heads of administrations of the Belarusian FEZ, the founding event of which will be held on June 21 in Vitebsk. BelTA learned from the official representative of the administration of the FEZ "Vitebsk" Julia Mikolajczyk.
The main purpose of the council is to create a platform for developing a unified position to improve legislation on free economic zones in the area of tax regulation of residents, architectural and construction activities, as well as customs regulation of certain transactions, explained Julia Mikolajczyk.
The event will be attended by the heads of administrations of the Belarusian FEZ, representatives of ministries and departments, as well as state bodies of Belarus. As a result of the meeting, it is planned to sign the constituent documents and the final protocol, which will outline the proposals on improving the regulatory legal acts aimed at improving the investment climate in Belarus, creating favorable conditions for the work of enterprises on the territory of the FEZ. In addition, the council members will get acquainted with the development of the FEZ "Vitebsk" infrastructure and visit resident enterprises.
There are six free economic zones in Belarus (one in each regional center, including Minsk). The FEZ "Vitebsk" was established in 1999, occupies an area of more than 2.4 thousand hectares and consists of 13 sectors, including 7 in Vitebsk, 4 in Orsha, and one in Vitebsk and Postavy districts. Activity as residents of FEZ is carried out by 37 enterprises with the participation of investors from 12 countries in such areas as engineering, electronics, veterinary, chemical, fuel, food, light industries and others. The total number of employees at resident enterprises is almost 11 thousand people.
