Contactless trolleybuses of FEZ "Minsk" resident left for Vitebsk routes

Trolleybuses on storage batteries have left on routes of Vitebsk, the deputy chief of a trolleybus depot of branch "the City electric transport of Vitebsk" of Open Society "Vitebskoblautotrans" Dmitry Savchits has informed.

In total, the company received four new Belkommunmash machines equipped with powerful lithium-ion batteries for leasing. The batteries are charged while driving from the mains. Full charging time is 15 minutes. This speed is also ensured by additional charging stations.

New trolleybuses will run on different city routes, more often where there is no contact network. You can learn newcomers by omitted "horns" and maneuverability, as in ordinary passenger transport. A trolleybus can drive 15 km on a battery, that is, in fact, a full route. Half of their working time, new cars will go on autonomous travel, the second - like ordinary trolleybuses.

Another feature of transport is the availability of video surveillance systems. Two high-resolution cameras write the salon, two - the road ahead and behind. Currently, such an upgrade can boast 20 units of the trolleybus park of the city, over time, video surveillance systems are planned to equip all machines.

"First impressions of the new trolley buses from drivers and passengers are the most positive, let's see how they will prove themselves further (for serious conclusions it is necessary to save at least 10 thousand km of run), and in the long term it is planned to increase their number," said Dmitry Savchits.

The trolleybus fleet of Vitebsk includes 94 trolleybuses, 69 of which go daily for 11 city routes on weekdays, the average length of which (with the exception of route number 4, covering the regional center almost completely) is 10 km. The labor collective of the depot - about 450 people, and the entire branch "City Electric Transport of Vitebsk" JSC "Vitebskobalavtotrans" - 1,3 thousand.
