The resident of Minsk free economic zone SZAO BelGee, the leading manufacturer of cars in the Republic of Belarus, intends to expand the geography of export by 2020, BelTA learned from the company's Acting Director General Gennady Svidersky.
So far this year the company has made some 5,000 cars. Of the total number 3,000 cars have been sold in Russia and 1,800 cars have been sold in Belarus.
“We are intent on selling cars in Eastern Europe and the Eurasian Economic Union. We have to find our own niche and distributors. We are starting marketing work now. Negotiations have already been held with Moldova and Kazakhstan. It is quite a complicated task,” noted Gennady Svidersky. “One way or another, the bulk of the cars will still be sold on the Russian and Belarusian markets. I think we will be able to sell one third of the cars we make on other markets – Ukraine, Lithuania, and Latvia – by 2020".
At present there are two official Geely dealerships in Minsk and one dealership in every oblast. There are plans to open the third dealership in Minsk by the end of the year.

Gennady Svidersky added: “We've reached 50% localization because new factories have been built next to BelGee to make powertrains, radiators, and seats. Belshina supplies tires. Batteries are made by Belarusian and Russian companies. We receive half of the components from China, including the intermediate metal parts we use to weld car bodies. Work is in progress on the localization of other components.
The company's assembly line allows making batches of all the three car models – Geely Atlas (NL3), Geely Emgrand X7 (NL4), and Geely Emgrand 7 (FE3). Marketing studies are in progress. A portfolio of orders is being formed as well as the portfolio of purchases for the Russian and Belarusian markets”.
